Test Boost: Ingredients, Use, and Review

What are test boosts and why is it used?

Test boosts(Testosterone boosters) are natural or artificial supplements that are used to increase the testosterone levels in the body. Testosterone is the male sex hormone associated with men which is responsible for muscle mass, sex drive, and sperm production. Usually, testosterone levels gradually decrease with age so test boosts are used to increase the levels of testosterone in the body.

Test boosters are widely marketed these days as key supplements to help you with gains, sex drive, and fat loss. Is it all true or is it just hype? Don’t worry as we have done all the work for you guys from reading all the scientific studies to get the most accurate information to pass on to you guys so sit down, relax, and let’s get this started.

Ingredients used in Test boost

There are various natural and artificial test boosts available in the market with different ingredients in them. The most commonly used active ingredients are

  • Tribulus Terrestris
  • Dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA)
  • Zinc Magnesium Aspartate(ZMA)
  • Epimedium(Horny goat weed)
  • Fenugreek
  • Ashwagandha root
  • D-Aspartic Acid(D-AA)

How these ingredients work in our body and their side effects

Tribulus Terrestris: This is the most common and standalone supplement or one of the ingredients of the formula. This is marketed as an aid to help people come out of the steroid cycle to help them bring Testosterone levels back to normal. But this is inconclusive as there are no studies to back this claim. In some rare cases, kidney damage is linked to taking Tribulus.

DehydroEpiAndrosterone(DHEA): DHEA is a natural steroid that is secreted by the adrenal glands and can be converted into testosterone and less desirable estrogen. There are claims that DHEA increases T levels, slow signs of aging which also include slowing down muscle loss. The danger here is that this can increase estrogen levels with side effects that cause Man boobs.

Zinc Magnesium Aspartate(ZMA): ZMA is believed to increase testosterone levels and strength but we read studies that examine the anabolic effects of supplementing with ZMA and they showed no difference in body composition, strength levels, or serum testosterone levels. The side effects include blood in the urine.

Epimedium( Horny goat weed): Epimedium is a traditional Chinese medicine that is used for overall improvement in bodily function. The side effects include dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, and nosebleed.

Fenugreek: Fenugreek is a herb believed to boost libido and raise T levels but there are hardly any studies to back it up and the only study to back it was financed by the company that sells the test booster. Fenugreek side effects are nasal congestion, coughing, wheezing, facial swelling, and severe allergic reactions in sensitive people.

Ashwagandha root: Ashwagandha is an Indian herb that is used in Ayurveda and it promotes metabolism, enhances immunity, and increases T levels. Large consumption of ashwagandha might cause stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting.

D-Aspartic Acid(D-AA): D-AA is an amino acid that regulates testosterone synthesis. It is all hyped up to increase T levels but studies show that they only increase T levels temporarily for a week and the small benefits are only seen in men who have T levels below normal levels. Side effects of D-AA include irritability, headaches, and nervousness.

Why is TRT(Testosterone Replacement Therapy) better than Test Boost?

The overall result of the Test boosters isn’t conclusive and there isn’t a lot of evidence backing the claims of those improvements in testosterone levels. As a matter of fact, according to a study in 2019 test boosters may only have those ingredients to support their claim. Test boosters are all about Proprietary blends in ingredients that are unknown dosage amounts and marketing gimmicks.

Whereas TRT is the direct injection of testosterone into the body at specific sites which is proven to increase T levels. So we would recommend TRT over test boosters any time.
